Placer County celebrates Fanny Bridge with a ribbon cutting May 17

Members of the community are invited to join a once-in-a-lifetime celebration at the Fanny Bridge Ribbon Cutting and Block Party on May 17. Placer County, the Tahoe City Downtown Association and the North Tahoe Community Alliance will recognize one of Tahoe City’s most cherished landmarks this spring after its official reopening Feb. 10.

Placer County partnered with the Federal Highway Administration Central Federal Lands Division, Caltrans, Tahoe Regional Planning Agency and Tahoe Transportation District to plan and construct the $10.6 million replacement bridge over the past decade. The new single-span structure reflects the look of the historic bridge while removing piers from the Truckee River, preserving its character and improving safety, accessibility and environmental conditions.
